Cotton & Satin.

I was rewarded, by skipping out of the last 8 minutes of my Ballet Sculpt class today (don't judge me - I'm pregnant!) to swing by Target, with these...

Photobucket

I'm all about cute lounge clothes these days and these sweet little shorts just had to be shared! They're cut great, the perfect length, super comfy and have a pretty, thick satin ribbon as a draw string. Even better, they're $10. You can't find anything for $10 these days! I picked up two pairs and you will most likely see me living in them this summer. They come in heather grey, black, pale pink and navy, all with a cream ribbon. And don't you worry, they're not maternity shorts.

Back to work (and lots of it!) and off to Portland tomorrow morning for a fun wedding weekend. CAN'T WAIT to see everyone!!

A nerd for notepads.

I'm a complete nerd for notepads. I like to write lists and rewrite them. Since my office also doubles as our guest room, (and I have ugly scraps of paper posted all over my corkboard) I was excited to see the MacBeth Collection (which I've blogged about before here) on Zulily with their adorable notepads on sale!

Photobucket

Scout, Rugby & Ava Fashion Notepads | $11.99 (on sale from $25)
Blue & Green Beehive Lap Desk | $14.99 (on sale from $28)

I also picked up a stylin' little lap desk in anticipation for many work days from the couch. They have super girly and ultra preppy prints. And great July 4th party essentials. Check them out!

Peach & Blueberry Crumble.

I love desserts. It's true. I'm partial to fruity desserts and that's why I must share this recipe for a Peach & Blueberry Crumble I made for a dinner party last weekend...

Photobucket

For the Fruit
2 lbs firm, ripe peaches (6-8 peaches)
2 tsp grated lemon zest
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup fresh bluberries

For the Crumble
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 lb (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, diced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Immerse the peaches in boiling water for 30 seconds to a minute, until their skins peel off easily. Place them immediately in cold water. Peel the peaches, slice them into thick wedges and place them in a large bowl. Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, granulated sugar and flour. Toss well. Gently mix in the blueberries. Allow mixture to sit for 5 minutes. Spoon the mixture into ramekins or custard cups.

For the topping, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and the butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitter with a paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until the butter is the size of peas. Rub the mixture with your fingertips until it's in big crumbles, then sprinkle evenly over the fruit. Place the ramekins on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and bake for 40-45 minutes, until the tops are browned and crisp and the juices are bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature.

It was so delish, we ate left overs for 3 days straight. I think it was the lemon zest that added a little something... or possibly the Tahitian vanilla gelato I topped it with?! :)

Summer Twist!

I love me a messy, low bun (as I've already shared here) but this double sided, twisted, bun-ness is even easier to pull off and so perfect for summer!

This was found at Women's Health Magazine's website (who knew they gave hair tips!) and includes directions and a video tutorial. Give it a whirl!

Happy, Happy Father's Day!

I'm feeling extra blessed today, as I think about the 3 incredible Dads in my life.

How my Dad put up with the three of us and all of our ridiculous requests ("I want a puppy", "I want another puppy", "I want a horse", "I want Sheryl Swoops sneakers", "I want a car") while still attending every one of our sporting events and making the best breakfasts a kid could ask for... homemade egg mcmuffin sandwiches and toaster struddles (the good kind!)... I will never know. I love you very much for everything you did and still do for us. You're amazing!

My Dad-In-Law is pretty amazing as well! I couldn't have dreamed of a more loving, kind, funny, generous 2nd Dad. I'm so, so thankful for you!

Are you two ready to be called "Grandpa"?! :) (Can't wait for you both to open your gifts!)

And to my "Daddy To Be" - Baby de W is the luckiest babe in the world because she/he will get to call you "Dad". You're going to be up there in the "incredible dad" category so soon. Get ready! Happy Father's Day to the love of my life. Thank you for being you :)

Check out what Baby de W gave her/his dad this morning... (Daddy loves his pocket squares!)

Sunday Project.

When the my vintage Ikat hand woven fabric arrived on Friday (straight from Nalgonda, India!), I knew I'd be spending a big chunk of the weekend with my sewing machine. I was determined to get some curtains up for the two windows in the nursery and that's exactly what I did this afternoon. I was tempted to throw the sewing machine across the room a time or two, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. I'm really loving this fabric!

Apparently I think we're having a boy with that white and blue... but I can also picture a rich berry color fitting in nicely as well. It will be a challenge getting this room together before babe hits the scene, but the extra excitement for October is SO worth it!

Owning the Belly!

The past month has been all sorts of crazy in my world. My husband, dog and I moved from San Francisco to Denver, I began working full-time for the design company I started on the side (almost 3 years ago - check it out!) and, oh yeah... we're 23 weeks pregnant!!!

Good crazy! As I settle into this new city and new role as business owner and mommy-to-be, I'm feeling more motivated than ever with lots of fun projects going on.

But I can't say that I don't get distracted every now and then. Today, it's with the search for maternity dresses, as the wedding season begins. Today I discovered ASOS Maternity...

Malandrino Crochet

I didn't watch the MTV Music Awards last night and I have no idea who Katie Cassidy is, but I DO know that this "Massardiere" knit crochet dress from Malandrino's Spring/Summer 2011 collection is GORG!!

Photobucket

Apparently Katie Cassidy is on Gossip Girl, which I also don't watch. Oye, I feel old today! :)

A pleasant surprise.

I found my way to the Ann Taylor site after seeing a beautiful tunic (top left) on a new blog I'm following (Classically Eclectic - check it out!) and found myself still perusing 20 minutes later. I can't say that I've purchased anything from Ann Taylor since 10th grade or so, but I was pleasantly surprised...

Photobucket

Photobucket

There are fabulously draped tops in perfect neutrals and BRIGHT, brights, silky pleats and some surprisingly great accessories at "yes please" prices. Since I can no longer properly fit my body into these fantastic pieces :), I can at least write about them and maybe add that necklace to my collection for the time being? It's kind of amazing.

And even better... all regular priced items are buy one get one 50% off + FREE shipping on orders of $150 or more. Do it!! And do share! I will be living vicariously through you for the next 4 months :)

Maybe Ann has always been this fabulous and I just didn't know. Happy Friday y'all!
